Malyagiri" is an Odia film that has generated quite a buzz, thanks to the performances of Amlan Das and Suryamayee. Amlan Das, in particular, shines with his character and is given ample scope to display his acting prowess. On the other hand, Babushaan, who was highly anticipated, unfortunately, doesn't get as much of an opportunity to showcase his talents.
One aspect of the film that stands out is the Background Music (BGM) and Digital Intermediation (DI). Both are praiseworthy and contribute to the overall cinematic experience. These technical elements elevate the film and create a captivating atmosphere
Sivani Sangita, in her role opposite Babushaan, delivers an okay performance. While she doesn't quite match up to the excellence of Amlan and Suryamayee, her performance is still serviceable.
Director PRP's framing of the film is commendable, with well-composed shots and scenes that capture the essence of the story. However, where "Malyagiri" falters is in its screenplay. The film's storyline seems lengthy and at times, it becomes tedious, making it a bit of a drag.
In conclusion, "Malyagiri" has its strengths, particularly in the performances of Amlan Das and Suryamayee, as well as the technical aspects like BGM and DI. However, it falls short in terms of its screenplay, which is lengthy and somewhat boring. Despite its shortcomings, it's a step in the right direction for Odia cinema, and one can only hope for more quality films to come from this region in the future.
